TIMEOUT takes some time out

After five long years of bringing some of the biggest nights to Bedford High Street, TIMEOUT will be closing it’s door for the last time. To celebrate this, TIMEOUT are hosting a tear-the-roof off night this coming Saturday, 2nd April with the help of residents Dazz Norman, Kevin KC Challis, Jason Jay and others.

TIMEOUT has been home to numerous sell out nights including CatchTheFeelin, Saturday Sessions, BadHabit, UltraVegas and much much more over the last five years. In this time, the management team behind TIMEOUT have worked hard to build a credible brand in a town that was known for the exact opposite and to be honest, it will be truly missed by those who prefer quality over quantity. TIMEOUT was one of a few clubs in the Three Counties that did not need gimmicks and 50p drinks to get clubbers through the door and this was partly down to the hardwork of the managment, DJ’s and door policy. Boasting two well-sized dancefloors, a decent sized basement and the best garden chill zone, TIMEOUT could be considered the best club in Bedford. One thing for sure, it was the most consistent as any raver who has been there twice could testify.

We at The Large Mag are truly sad to see the closing of clubbing institution but on the flipside, we will be drinking the bar dry and dancing till 4am with the rest of the mourners who have come to pay their last respects for the experience that is/was known as TIMEOUT.

Luton gets an injection of soul

It is not everyday that the Large Mag team get this excited about an upcoming event but when we got wind of Soul Divas/Icons/Legends Rose Royce’s and Gwen Dickey’s appearance in Luton, we practically had our own pre-night party in the office. Unless you have been down a hatch repeatedly pressing 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, & 42, you have no excuse to not know who Rose Royce or Gwen Dickey are.

Why Is UTR The Best?

Over the past two years, there has been a growing movement that has completely changed the clubbing the scene for under 18’s up and down the country. Gone are the days of standing up on one end of the hall with the boys as the girls stand on the other side separated by a gulf of frustration.

Under The Radar Events (UTR) are part of Rough Hill, The UK’s No.1 student and youth orientated events organiser. For the last three years, UTR have put on the biggest events for 16 to 18 year olds which have included acts such as Subfocus, Andy C, Tempa T, Chase & Status, Ms Dynamite, Skream & Benga, EZ, MZ Bratt, Boy Better Know, Donaeo and many many more.

Regardless of the location, each and every event is packed to the ceiling with ravers looking to sample the UTR hype for themselves. But why?

Where UTR succeeds where many others have failed is in the little details. The small little touches like DJ and PA selection. UTR seem to be one step ahead of the game by booking current and in demand acts.

When it comes to choosing a venue, Location Location Location is as important as choosing the right acts. These are the fine touches we are talking about. How many under 18 events take place in venues such as Brum’s Gatecrasher, London’s Coronet Theatre and Ministry of Sound?

These are just some of the reasons why UTR is by far the best under 18 clubbing experience. Expect big things from the UTR movement.
